A writer is the author of all or part of a musical work, including a composer or lyricist. Also referred to as “songwriter.” Generally, the term “composer” is used for classical or instrumental musical works, while “songwriter” is used in all other genres.
Writers are separate from artists – writers may also be a recording artist but do not have to be both.
