Matching Tool FAQs

If you would like to know more about what the Matching Tool is or how to use it, check out our article here!

How long will it take for match suggestions to be reviewed?

If you suggest that a recording be matched to a work that has been newly registered and has not yet been captured in a data snapshot, it will take longer than one month to be reviewed.

  • This is because matches cannot be reviewed for works that haven't yet been reflected in a monthly data snapshot.

If you suggest a match to a work and that work has already been captured in a data snapshot, it will take approximately one month to review.

You can review the status of your suggested matches through the Match History tab. There is also a Match History Export feature available within this tab that allows you to receive a spreadsheet of your proposed matches.

Why is the recording I've already suggested still showing up when I search the Matching Tool?

There is a refresh of matching data that occurs monthly. Once this is deployed, approved matches will be filtered out of Matching Tool search results and added to the Matched Recordings display of the MLC Song Code that the recording is matched to.

When will I get paid for my approved matches?

Once your work has been captured in the snapshot and the suggested match has been accepted, any royalties generated from that recording will be paid out in the next 1-2 distributions.

  • Please note: It may take another month for the display to update within the Matched Recordings section of The MLC Portal.

When will the Matched Recordings section be updated after duplicate works are merged?

It can take up to one month for the Matched Recordings section to reflect recordings from the duplicate registrations.
